Free Talk Wednesday, April 9th: Autism Spectrum Disorder in the new DSM-5

April 1, 2014

The Boston Children's Hospital
Autism Spectrum Center Presents

Autism Spectrum Disorder in the New DSM-5
How Big is the Change?

Sarah J. Spence, M.D., Ph.D., BCH Neurology
Co-Director, Autism Spectrum Center
In May, 2013, the American Psychiatric Association released its new manual, the DSM-5, which included new diagnostic criteria for autism. The press leading up to this release was confusing and generated many concerns.

In this presentation Dr. Spence (who was part of the APA's committee), will explain the whole process, and shed light on what the changes are and how they were decided.

Come hear what really happened and what the new criteria might mean to you and your child.

When:   6:00 - 8:00pm, Wednesday, April 9th

Where: Folkman Auditorium, Enders Building
                 Boston Children’s Hospital
300 Longwood Ave, Boston, MA 02115
Both family members and professionals are welcome! Free parking available at the main BCH parking lot across the street. Parking vouchers will be distributed at the event.
Space is limited. Please RSVP by Monday, April 7th to Noor Al-Hakim by email to Noor.al-hakim@childrens.harvard.edu or  call (617) 355-7244.
