Parent Forum Wednesday, 11/12: Alternative Augmentative Communication (AAC) and Social Cognitive Development

From The Ely Center

October 21, 2014

For individuals who struggle to communicate, using technology to speak can be an exciting but overwhelming prospect. We are excited to offer a collaborative approach to help AAC users, combining the clinical expertise of the Ely Center's Pamela Ely and Sean Sweeney, with that of Dr. Kerry Davis, district-wide AAC specialist in the Newton Public Schools.

This evening will feature:
  • Individual and small group learning opportunities for Augmentative Alternative Communication users and their families.
  • A holistic, collaborative approach to expanding language and social skill opportunities using AAC.
  • Opportunities to increase independence and confidence speaking to peers, friends and family.
  • Offering a supportive and fun learning environment connecting families and individuals who use AAC.

When: 6:30 – 8:30pm Wednesday, November 12, 2014

Where: The Ely Center
                   84 Rowe Street, Newton, MA

Speakers: Kerry Davis, Ed.D., CCC-SLP
