On Tuesday, March 17th, as part of our internal continuing education program, NESCA clinicians involved in transition will attend a special training session on person-centered and whole-life planning. NESCA's transition team (Director Kelley Challen, Ed.M., CAS, Sandra Storer, MSW and Marilyn Weber) already practice person-centered planning, but will be introduced to whole life planning, a process designed to help individuals identify their dreams and aspirations, set short- and long-term goals, pursue their dreams and identify available support and resources.
NESCA neuropsychologists will also participate, in order to gain a fuller understanding of the transition planning options available to, and appropriate for their adolescent and young adult clients.
Presenter
Maria Paiewonsky, Ed.D. is a transition specialist at the Institute for Community Inclusion and Director of the Massachusetts Transition Leadership Initiative, a personnel preparation program that prepares Master's Level Transition Specialists at the University of Massachusetts Boston. She has been heavily involved in inclusive education research in MA, and oversees numerous transition-related projects with teachers, interdisciplinary team members, students and families to develop positive transition outcomes at ICI.
