Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Resources and Services Guide

From the Mass. CBHI
Children's Behavioral Health Initiative

June 18, 2015

The Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC), in partnership with the Children’s Behavioral Health Initiative (CBHI) and Mass. Department of Mental Health (DMH), have developed an Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Resources and Services Guide for early education and care professionals.

This guide provides basic information on infant and early childhood mental health and includes descriptions of services and supports for families with young children, as well as resources that can benefit both center-based and family child care providers of early education and care.

To engage families in conversations about their children’s social and emotional development, the guide also offers suggestions about ways to discuss children's health social-emotional development with children, and to how to work in partnership with families when concerns arise.

Also included in the guide is a discussion of self-care and suggestions for how programs can support educators.

Additional resources related to Early Childhood Mental Health are available online at http://www.mass.gov/eec/ecmh and Children’s Behavioral Health Initiative (CBHI).
